From time to time, on television and in the press, we can read that someone took out a loan as someone’s ID card. This is quite often a way to extort money. How can we protect ourselves from him?
The personal ID is a document that we confirm our identity with. It is he who also allows us to use financial services at banks and in non-banking companies. If the proof is lost or stolen, we should inform the bank where we have an account, the commune office or consular office when we are abroad, and we should also give notice to the police – this is stolen evidence.
A document such as an ID card in the hands of unauthorized persons can be a serious threat to us. If we do not reserve it on time, it can be used to take out loans on our behalf, to sign different contracts, to write data with the penalty for a ticket without a ticket. The fact that the evidence was used for such purposes, the victim usually finds out when he receives a letter of request for payment.
A loan for uncorrected evidence
Currently, you need an ID card to take out a loan in many institutions. This is a great convenience for those who need money immediately. We do not have to provide any additional documents then, for example, you need an ID card in many institutions. This is a great convenience for those who need money immediately. We do not have to provide any additional documents, for example a certificate from the employer about the income obtained. On the other hand, it is a threat, because without checking other documents a loan can be taken by someone who should not take it.
This problem mainly concerns on-line loans in loan companies – currently they are very popular and we can borrow up to PLN 10,000 without leaving home. We need only to fill in the form on the loan company’s website. Now, fortunately, companies use additional forms of verification, for example by making a transfer, but in the past, phishing in this way loans was quite common. Of course, the risk is also a stationary loan – here it often turns out that the borrower and the lender cooperate with each other.
How to protect yourself from the threat?
If we do not want to have problems like the above, we should first remember to always keep your ID as soon as possible – immediately after the theft. Let’s go to the bank, commune office or consular office, as well as to the police, and there the policeman will be able to prepare an appropriate document confirming the theft for us. When the ID card is lost, all you have to do is go to the commune office or consular office and report the fact to the bank – it may be any bank, because then there is the reservation of evidence in a special database.
Of course, when someone has already taken the evidence in our name, we must go to the police as soon as possible and report the matter. When we receive a document requesting payment, let’s also contact the exhibitor, for example a debt collection company, and describe your case.
